IMPORTANT MESSAGES:
EL SOL HOSTEL is on a very busy intersection in downtown Buenos Aires where hustle and bustle of the city makes street noise inevitable. Please consider this before booking with us.
We do not have a sign on the door! We are located next door to a restaurant called El Dorado, which is on the corner of MARCELO T. DE ALVEAR and MONTEVIDEO. When you arrive at our address press the middle button wait for someone to answer. If you have a reservation, we will be waiting for you. If you do not have a reservation come back a little later. Please DO NOT enter the building unattended as you might end up locked in the lobby. We do not have 24 hour reception because we generally work with online-confirmed guests with confirmed arrival times. Also, make sure you don't go to AV. ALVEAR, which is a different street altogether.

ABOUT EL SOL HOSTEL DE RECOLETA
No frills, just a great place at a great price for travelers who want independence and tranquility in a safe yet central setting. EL SOL is truly one of a kind. Run by an ex-pat Californian, it is located in the posh and vibrant RECOLETA district of BA where most points of interest are only minutes away. The building is old and beautiful and is still in the process of being fully restored, so please bear with us. Most of our guests enjoy and appreciate progress.
The renovated French-style building (built 1890) has all the charm and elegance of the city´s golden years yet our prices preserve the spirit of affordable lodging that hostels were intended to provide.
Recoleta is without exception the safest neighborhood in Buenos Aires. While many of the city´s numerous points of interest are also located in charming and unique settings, not all are suitable for late night strolls. At EL SOL, however - surrounded by prestigious universities, upscale residences, fashionable boutiques, and countless bars, restaurants, pubs and clubs - you´ll never step out onto an dark or empty street... any time, or any day of the week!
Surprisingly, our privileged location translates into lower prices for our guests: in order to remain affordable, we offer fewer extra services. But our neighborhood has most of your needs within THREE BLOCKS of the hostel. You´ll find several internet cafes (although you can connect from you room if you bring a wireless-ready portable computer) and dozens of eating establishments some of which are open 24 hours!
We simply take care of your safe, affordable lodging, while most other services are just meters away. You don´t even have to step off our curb for laundry, internet/phone calls, pharmacy, breakfast, bakery, kiosks, photo developing, or a bar/dance club (The Living) etc.
