Asuntohotelli / Hostel Aallon Maja was designed by Alvar Aalto, one of the most famous architects in Finland ever. Aallon Maja was originally a laundry and sauna house for employees of Sunila pulp mill. The hostel was build in 1988 and from 1996 the building has been almost empty, then in 2003 Mr. Ilkka Porkka started the business again.

We have 12 - 14 rooms for up to 50 persons, self service kitchens, toilets, shower rooms, 2 saunas, a big conference room and so on.

In the same building there is Art Café Aino which has permanent art exhibition of its own and many art exhibitions of different artists every year. It is suitable for small meetings etc.

On the property of Aallon Maja there is an old bomb shelter called 'Kulttuuriluola'. It was found last year under the earth in an old cave. It is an unique place for art exhibitions, small scale concerts, performance space and much more.

400 m from the hostel we have 2 apartments/suites Apteekki (an old drag store!) and Pankki (an old bank!). Both of them have space and beds for 4 - 7 persons.
15 km from our hostel near Kymijoki river and Kultaa falls we have a river side property of our own. It is a nice place for our customers for camping, fishing etc.

Asuntohotelli Aallon Maja toimii Alvar Aallon suunnittelemassa rakennuksessa Kotkan Sunilassa. Alunperin talossa toimi pesula ja sauna. Hotelli tehtiin 1980-luvun lopulla. Rakennus ehti olla lähes kymmenen vuotta tyhjillään, kunnes Ilkka Porkka osti sen ja käynnisti uudelleen hotellitoiminnan.

Meillä on 12 - 14 huonetta jopa 50 henkilölle, 2 saunaa, riittävästi vessoja ja suihkuja, itsepalvelukeittiö, TV kaikissa huoneissa, Internet-yhteydet (LAN ja WLAN), satelliittivastaanotin jne.

Samassa talossa toimii taidekahvila Café Aino, jossa on myös taidelainaamo. Meillä on pysyvä taidemyyntinäyttely ja pitkin vuotta vaihtuvia näyttelyitä eri taiteilijoilta. Tila soveltuu hyvin myös pienimuotoisten kokousten ja tilaisuuksien pitopaikaksi. Hostellin yhteydessä on suuri neuvotteluhuone n. 20 - 30 hengelle.

Majoitustilaa on lisää Apteekki- ja Pankki-sviiteissä (rakenteilla) , jotka sijaitsevat noin 400 metrin päässä Aallon Majalta. Kumpaankin mahtuu 4 - 7 henkilöä.

Hotellin tontilta kaivettiin kesällä 2004 esille vanha väestönsuoja, josta rakennetaan Kulttuuriluola näyttely- ja tapahtumatilaksi.

Noin 15 kilometrin päässä Kultaan koskilla meillä on oma joenrantapalsta, josta kehitetään tukikohta kalastajille, melojille jne.

Asuntohotelli Aallon Maja kuuluu Suomen Retkeilymajajärjestöön (SRM) ja on sitä kautta yksi maailman yli 4000 hostellista.
